My name is Jayme Peta. I’m a psychotherapist in private practice in Boulder, Colorado. I work mainly with gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth. I’ve worked with and for LGBTQ youth since 1997.
I started this blog because I wanted a central place for my clients, other LGBTQ youth, and their families and allies to seek news on mental health and wellness concerns for LGBTQ youth. So much of what we read and see about LGBTQ youth is negative — suicide, depression, substance use. While these things are a part of our community, I also hope to combat the message that LGBTQ youth are just their problems by posting news and articles on LGBTQ youth wellness, resiliency, support and hope.

This is a great site for information and resources. I’ve added links for both this blog and your website at http://www.msqueer.com, as well as a brief description of your new sites on the Gay Youth and LGBT Resources pages. -MsQueer
Thank you so much! I look forward to more of your posts!
Hi, Just searching around the blogosphere for those writing about youth and mental health. Always happy to find people like you who are advocating for those who need a voice. Check out some of the youth personal stories, games and safety planning tools on our website. All created by a unique team of clinical, creative and tech professionals. I suspect they’d be great to use with your clients.
